PART 1: READING AND NEWSPAPERS

What is the best age for children to start reading?
I think the best age for children to start reading is around six, once they've learned how to read in primary school. This ensures they have the basic skills needed to enjoy and understand books.

Which do you prefer, e-books or paper-books?
I prefer paper books. I love the feeling of holding a book and the texture of the pages, which makes the reading experience more enjoyable for me.

How do you usually get news?
I usually get news on Facebook, mainly from fan pages of news channels. If something special catches my interest, I follow the links to read more.

What kinds of information in newspapers or magazines do you find most useful?
I find scientific information most useful. I'm interested in news about scientific breakthroughs that can improve our lives.

PART 2:

Describe a good decision you have just made recently.

You should say:
● What the decision was
● When and where you made this decision
● What happened as a result of this decision

And explain why you think this was a good decision to make.

Answer:

One good decision I made recently was to read the Harry Potter series to improve my IELTS reading skills. This decision came about after I had scored 8.5 on the IELTS reading section for the third time. I realized I needed to boost my reading comprehension, so I consulted a friend who teaches IELTS. He shared various methods, including speed reading and question analysis, but the idea of focusing on reading comprehension through engaging material seemed most convincing to me.

I started this journey a few months ago, right after discussing it with my friend. I found that immersing myself in the Harry Potter books not only made reading enjoyable but also significantly improved my skills. My reading speed has increased without compromising comprehension, and I've learned over a thousand new words from the series. This newfound confidence in my reading ability is invaluable as I prepare for the IELTS again, aiming for a perfect score of 9.0 this August.

Additionally, this decision has fostered a daily reading habit. I now have a constant thirst for more reading materials and have gained a lot of valuable knowledge in the process. Looking back, I wish I had started this approach two years ago when I first began studying for the IELTS. It's been a brilliant decision that continues to benefit me in many ways.

PART 3:

Which decisions that most people have to make every day?
Most people face a variety of decisions every day, both at work and at home. At work, they need to decide how to prioritize their tasks, how to communicate effectively with colleagues, and how to manage their time to meet deadlines. At home, decisions often revolve around meal planning, household chores, and managing family schedules.

At what age do children start making their own decisions?
I believe children start making their own decisions from a very young age, even on the very first day. For instance, they decide when to eat and when to nap mostly by themselves. By the age of three, most children have become more independent and want to make their own decisions with a little help from their parents. I reckon that parents should encourage them to do so to nurture their self-reliance. This early practice in decision-making helps children develop confidence and critical thinking skills that are essential for their growth.

Why do some people find it hard to make everyday decisions?
I'm not so sure, but I guess some people struggle with making everyday decisions due to a lack of adequate background information. For example, when we want to choose between different types of cars but don't have an idea about their power and reliability, it can be challenging. Additionally, people usually struggle with making decisions when there are conflicting targets, such as wanting to buy a house near the city center but having a limited budget. This conflict of interests makes it difficult to choose the best option.

Are important decisions best made alone?
I don't think so. It is best to consult others when making an important decision. By doing so, decision-makers can consider more options and see them from distinct angles that they themselves might overlook. Having said that, sometimes making up our own minds is more beneficial, especially in the case of business leaders. They are the ones who have the vision like no one else, and many, such as Elon Musk, heavily rely on their gut feelings to decide. Thus, while consulting others is generally advantageous, there are instances where individual judgment and intuition play a crucial role.
